Neurotechnology has announced a new SDK for its comprehensive automated surveillance system. The latest version of its system since the SDK upgrades earlier this fall also has a new name: Previously called VeriLook, it now sports the moniker SentiVeillance.
The system has a number of advanced surveillance capabilities. Scanning a single video feed or those of multiple cameras, SentiVeillance can differentiate between pedestrians and vehicles based on their speed of movement, it can track specific people or objects, and it can detect when subjects are moving into or out of a predetermined area. And if individuals are moving into a restricted area, the system can trigger automatic alerts to be sent out to security personnel.
SentiVeillance also sports advanced biometric capabilities. It can identify faces and match them to an internal database – an important tool for security applications. But it can also estimate individuals’ ages and detect signs of emotion such as smiles or open mouths.
While the system has clear applications in security surveillance deployments and even traffic safety, it also has these additional features that may make it valuable for more commercial applications such as scanning shoppers in a retail environment. The scope of its capabilities could help to make it appealing across a range of sectors.
