NEC Helped Support INTERPOL Cybercrime Training

NEC Corporation played a supporting role in recent INTERPOL training, the company has announced.

The international police body’s Digital Security Challenge (DSC) ran from March 14th to March 17th. Held at its Global Complex for Innovation in Singapore, the program was meant to train participants in cybercrime investigations using a simulated crime with its own trail of digital evidence.

Announcing its participation in a statement, NEC says it provided “information for analysis” and “an analysis environment for the investigation,” and showed participants how its facial recognition technology could be used to analyze surveillance footage.

The company appears to have sought to establish a warm relationship with INTERPOL, given the applicability of its technology to the organization’s work, having participated in the 85th ICPO-INTERPOL General Assembly Exhibition last autumn.
