Seeking to boost its IT services in Brazil, NEC Latin America has acquired Arcon Informatics, a domestic IT security company.
Arcon was started in 1995 and has since grown its digital security consulting and management businesses. NEC says the company now has a network of clients in fields including finance, energy, manufacturing, telecommunications, and government.
In a statement announcing the acquisition, NEC acknowledged that economic growth has lately stagnated in Brazil, but asserted that the country’s IT market “has continued to steadily expand,” adding that the IT security market in specifically “is expected to grow particularly fast over the upcoming years.”
For its part, NEC has been active in the country for decades, having set up a domestic affiliate in 1968, and recently has been ramping up its efforts in biometric authentication and infrastructure provisioning.
