Next Wednesday marks the start of Mobile World Congress Shanghai, which will run through Friday July 1, bringing together 70,000 attendees, 1,000 exhibitors, and 8,000 companies for Asia’s biggest mobile industry event. FindBiometrics will be there, not only in attendance, but moderating two identity and security focused sessions.
FindBiometrics president Peter O’Neill is serving as moderator for the Identity & Personalisation keynote session on Wednesday, June 29, and also for the Cyber Security series of presentations on Thursday, June 30.
“I am very excited about what is happening in the Biometrics and mobile Identity areas,” said O’Neill. “These are very important discussions that need to be held now to combat the growing cyber security threats and to address the opportunities that exist around mobility and IoT.”
The Identity & Personalisation keynote session will feature presentations from:
- Hans Vestberg, President & CEO, Ericsson
- Takashi Tanaka, President, KDDI
- Michael Foley, CEO, Telenor Pakistan
Focusing on the growing need for digital identity authentication in today’s password-fatigued world, the keynotes in this session will explore the benefits of mobile connect for moth users and service providers.
The next day, O’Neill will moderate the Cyber Security session. This 75 minute event will feature discussions with industry leaders in biometrics, mobile networks, Internet of Things, security, connectivity and more:
- Harrison Lung, Associate Principal, McKinsey & Company
- Todd Mozer, CEO, Sensory
- Zheng Lin, Regional Presales Director, North Asia, Intel Security
- Frank Ip, Director, Product Management, Huawei Technologies USA
- Jonathan Olsson, Solution Manager, Group Function Technology, Ericsson
- Giuseppe Targia, VP, Security & IoT Business Unit, Nokia
- Shen Haifu, GM, Public Safety, NEC China
The session’s focus will be on cyber security technologies, the threats they combat, current efforts in standardization, and critical infrastructure protection. Integrated circuits, biometric technology, and the current state of 5G are all on the docket for Thursday’s series of presentations.
Earlier this year, FindBiometrics was at the flagship Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where biometrics played a larger role than ever before. Next week, stay posted as we bring you news straight from MWC Shanghai.
