New Motorola Devices Maintain Lenovo’s Biometrics Commitment

The longstanding tech alliance between Fingerprint Cards and Precise Biometrics has found another iteration in two new Motorola devices. The Moto Z and Moto Z Force each feature an FPC1035 sensor running Precise BioMatch Mobile algorithm software.

The devices were launched at yesterday’s Lenovo Tech World 2016 media event in Silicon Valley, Lenovo having bought out the struggling Motorola brand early last year; and they’re technological innovation appears to signal Lenovo’s seriousness about revitalizing the Motorola name. The smartphones run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processors and sport all-metal chassis; and Lenovo claims the Moto Z to be the thinnest premium smartphone in the world, while asserting that the Moto Z Force’s Moto Shattershield display is guaranteed not to suffer fractures. The devices also sport a unique design feature allowing their modular backs to be swapped out for peripherals like a boombox or extra battery.

The phones also follow through on Lenovo’s promise to make biometric scanning a standard feature of all its new smartphones, with the Moto G4 Plus having helped pave the way earlier this year. FPC and Precise Biometrics are once again facilitating that effort, and these new devices should help to promote those companies’ biometric technologies in turn.
