GIS: Morpho to Launch Sophisticated Video Analysis System

Morpho (Safran) is planning to launch a major new product at this year’s Global Identity Summit (GIS) in Tampa. Through subsidiary MorphoTrak, the company will be showing off its Morpho Video Investigator (MVI), a video analytics system, at booth 301 in the exhibit hall.

MVI combines facial recognition with other identification systems that can detect things like license plates and motion patterns, expanding clients’ investigative capabilities. It’s designed to quickly process huge amounts of data, with embedded algorithms constantly scanning for the items of interest highlighted by investigators. Speaking on the new offering in a press release, MorphoTrak CEO Celeste Thomasson (who was recently recognized with a Women in Biometric Identity Award) called MVI “a force multiplier for forensic video analysis,” and said it “operates on a dynamic and scalable open platform adaptable to the needs of our customers.”

Similar biometric identification systems are already in use in security deployments, and their popularity appears to be on the rise among law enforcement entities as they come to see the value of facial recognition technology in investigating crimes via CCTV and other video feeds. The addition of other identification criteria in the system should make MVI all the more appealing when it’s launched at GIS 2015.
