Morpho (Safran) and Orange Cyberdefense have announced a new partnership that will see the companies cross-promote their digital security solutions.
According to the new agreement, Morpho will bring to the table its digital identity expertise, particularly in the area of biometric solutions, while Orange Cyberdefense will allow Morpho to leverage its network of Security Operations Centers, which offer round-the-clock digital surveillance services to clients’ IT infrastructures. Commenting in a statement, Morpho Digital Security and Authentication head Olivier Méaux asserted that the companies already enjoy longstanding ties in the telecom sector, and that Morpho is “now delighted to extend our collaboration with the Orange Group in the growing cybersecurity market.”
Méaux himself worked for Orange – of which Orange Cyberdefense is a subsidiary – from 2002 to 2013. When he joined Morpho last fall, Morpho CEO Anne Bouverot commended Méaux’s strengths in “digital innovation”, hinting that Morpho would be honing in on more user-facing solutions; and indeed the company soon announced various projects in the mobile sector. Cybersecurity happens to be an important and growing concern in the mobile world—particularly as it becomes more intertwined with the emerging Internet of Things—and so Morpho’s new partnership with Orange Cyberdefense makes a lot of sense.
For its part, Orange Cyberdefense CEO Michel Van Den Berghe commented that his company’s “partnership with Morpho will allow us to strengthen our solutions in digital identity protection, particularly in the field of biometrics.”
