“Meizu is a repeat customer for Precise Biometrics, having previously integrated its biometric software into devices such as the Pro 5 and the MX5 smartphones.”
A new version of Meizu’s Meilan Metal smartphone has been launched, and once again Precise Biometrics technology is playing an important role in the device. Like the original Meilan Metal, the new ‘Telecom version’ features an FPC1155 fingerprint sensor from Fingerprint Cards, and that device runs on Precise Biometrics’ Precise BioMatch Mobile software.
Meizu is a repeat customer for Precise Biometrics, having previously integrated its biometric software into devices such as the Pro 5 and the MX5 smartphones. And, of course, those integrations came by way of FPC, Precise Biometrics’ longtime hardware partner, which has become a leading supplier of fingerprint sensors to smartphone OEMs, helping to boost Precise Biometrics’ revenues in the process.
While that partnership undoubtedly continues to be a major boon for Precise Biometrics, the smartphone fingerprint sensor market continues to undergo a boom that can benefit numerous players, and as such Precise Biometrics has lately moved to establish partnerships with fingerprint sensor makers other than FPC. That could pay off with future licensing revenues, but given the company’s continuing success with FPC and the presence of repeat customers like Meizu, we’re likely to see many more of these kinds of integrations to come.
