Mastercard is aiming to make a big splash at this year’s Money20/20 conference.
For one thing, it’s sponsoring the Money20/20 Hackathon, in which it will see what participants can come up with using its Send Person-to-Person and Vending APIs. It has also teamed up with PYMNTS.com to host a ‘Cocktails & Conversations’ evening chat series on October 24th and 25th.
Getting down to more serious business, though, the company will participate in numerous panel discussions. One of the most important of those will be the discussion hosted by FindBiometrics president Peter O’Neill on the 24th, which will cover the use of biometric technology in the emerging field of consumer device-based payments – an area in which the company has been accumulating expertise. Ajay Bhalla, President, Enterprise Risk & Security at Mastercard will be participating in that panel along with representatives from Wells Fargo, Nok Nok Labs, Safran Identity & Security, and Daon. Other panel discussions will delve into matters like payment network disruption and the Internet of Things.
Mastercard is also going to showcase other innovations via a promised ‘mobile payments truck’, from which attendees can learn about AI, mobile commerce, and its emerging Masterpass digital payment platform, which aims to rival all of the big digital payment platforms currently on the scene.
