With the increasing availability of biometrics and strong authentication technologies at accessible price points for enterprises, the access control market is changing to accommodate next generation identity management solutions. Yesterday, Research and Markets announced that is has released an update concerning this market in the United Kingdom, covering biometric solutions as well as keypad locks and residential audio entry phones.
The report predicts that the UK physical access control market will grow over the next five years thanks to an ongoing need for protection against crime and improvements in the construction sector which took a harsh turn for the worse during the most recent period of economic downturn.
According to Research and Markets, the creations of new buildings is a key factor in the access control market and, though the sector contracted 8.2 percent in 2012, 2013 saw the construction output in Great Britain grow by 1.6 percent.
The growth in UK access control is being attributed to economic recovery, increased levels of business investment and an improving construction market. According to the report, the access control market is up 4.6 percent from 2009, with the latest reported year showing a growth of 2.9 percent.
As previously reported by FindBiometrics in April, Suprema and ENTERTECH SYSTEMS have expanded the terms of their partnership to include the UK and Ireland. ENTERTECH is Suprema’s operating partner in this region and both companies have stated their intent to break down barriers in biometric access control adoption.
