Microsoft has officially announced the launch of its Windows 10 Anniversary Update. The OS upgrade will be available to all Windows 10 devices starting August 2nd.
The upgrade comes with range of new features such as the Windows Ink digital writing system and an even smarter Cortana AI assistant that syncs across all user devices. The update also features Microsoft Edge, which Microsoft called in a press release “the first and only browser to natively support biometrics.”
It’s a substantial deepening of the commitment to biometric security that Microsoft first demonstrated with the Windows Hello security platform that came built into Windows 10 at its launch. While multiple devices now support that system, Microsoft Edge makes it native to the web, and bases it upon W3C and FIDO Alliance standards.
Together with the sophisticated data analytics capabilities of Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection, an anti-malware security system available for enterprise customers, the Windows 10 Anniversary Update appears to offer some of the most advanced security technologies of any major OS platform.
