Report Assesses Nascent LAMEA Automotive Biometric Access System Market

A new report from KBV Research is pointing to signs of life for the automotive biometric access system market in the LAMEA region.

The report’s authors suggest that the market’s prospects are somewhat limited in the region due to low awareness of the associated technologies and a lacking interest in adoption; but they highlight South Africa and the UAE as being particular countries in which a stronger interest in smart car technologies has been demonstrated. Those states could help to drive the overall LAMEA market.

Looking to key vendors, the report puts a spotlight on a number of companies including Synaptics, which has already established a strong portfolio of fingerprint sensor solutions designed specifically for automotive applications; and Fingerprint Cards, which has recently begun to explore the automotive sector as it seeks to expand beyond mobile applications for its fingerprint sensor technology. Others highlighted in the report include Delphi Automotive, Ford, VOXX, and Hitachi.

While the LAMEA automotive biometric access control market may be in a nascent stage now, with these kinds of major companies investing into such technologies, it’s a fair bet that growth is in store for this region and more broadly in the years to come.
