The Central European Start-Up Awards have named Jumio the Austrian startup of the year.
In a statement announcing its award, Jumio credited its company’s overall “ethos”, noting that it “has a multicultural and diverse team” including “experts from around the world” who are attracted by “an environment where innovation, learning and success is nurtured and celebrated.” The company also highlighted its Q3 results, which saw 47 percent year-over-year growth in annual recurring revenues.
It’s also worth noting that Jumio has been exploring biometric technology, having introduced facial recognition to its mobile authentication platform earlier this autumn, and brought facial biometrics to the Coinbase cryptocurrency exchange earlier this month. Given the widespread excitement over biometric technology across a range of industries, it seems quite possible that this played a role in the deliberations of the Central European Start-Up Awards.
Jumio now proceeds to the award finals on December 1st, at which an overall central European startup will be deemed top dog.
