ISORG and FlexEnable have won a prestigious industry award for their flexible fingerprint sensor solution. The companies were honored with the 2017 Best of Sensors Expo – Silver Applications Award.
The companies first announced the development of their plastic fingerprint sensor technology in January of 2016. Having combined ISORG’s organic printed photodetectors with FlexEnable’s organic thin-film transistor backing, the companies made a sensor that they said could be applied to almost any surface. Just nine months later, the companies showed off a flexible fingerprint sensor solution for smart cards at the Trustech 2016 conference, amid rising excitement over the prospect of biometric smart cards.
Now, the companies have announced that they and their technology received validation at the Sensors Expo and Conference held at the end of last month. The event has been running for more than 30 years, drawing thousands of industry professionals from North America and beyond.
The award could help to further raise the profile of the companies’ flexible, large-area sensor solution at a time when biometric smart cards, and particularly biometric payment cards, are a hotter topic than ever.
