IRIS ID has been named a 2014 Homeland Security Award winner by Government Security News (GSN). More specifically, the company actually won two awards: Best Biometric Identification Solution Provider of Physical Security Products and Solutions for Homeland Security, and Best Biometric Identification / Authentication Facility in Airport, Seaport and Border Security Awards Program.
The winners were chosen by a blue ribbon panel of industry experts including Ralston MacDonnell, CEO of the MacDonnell Group; Chuck Brooks, Xerox Vice President of Homeland Security; and Janice Kephart, founder of the Secure Identity and Biometrics Association.
Speaking on the panel’s recognition of Iris ID, GSN CEO Adrian Courtenay called the company “a standout leader in IRIS-based ID Authentication, with products that provide high integrity mass enrollment applications, physical access security airports, national ID programs, secure border crossings, data centers, biometric labs, HAZMAT environments and other critical infrastructure applications.”
IRIS ID is no stranger to such accolades. Just last summer, the company was named a winner in GSN’s Airport, Seaport, Border Security Awards, taking the category of Best Biometric Identification/Authentication Facility. And it has been busy since then, achieving integration with Electoral Services International to have its technology used in voter registration applications, and also winning integration at immigration counters in Qatar’s Hamad International Airport in Doha. Earlier this month, the company announced that it had struck a partnership with IDtech360 that should see large-scale distribution of its entire product line to underserved markets in the US.
Speaking in a press release, IRIS ID CEO Charles Koo said he and the rest of his team were proud to accept the award, adding, “At IRIS ID, we strive to enable greater adoption of IRIS recognition across multiple sectors by leveraging the accuracy and non-contact nature of iris biometrics in application of mobility, identity management and cloud capabilities to best address our customer’s evolving requirements.”
