Integrated Biometrics has just wrapped up its latest annual audit for ISO 9001 certification, the company has announced. Developed by the International Organization for Standardization, ISO 9001:2008 covers companies’ management systems, assessing them on such bases as customer focus, continual improvement, motivation of senior management, and so on.
In the case of fingerprint sensor specialist Integrated Biometrics, the ISO 9001 audit covered product quality and management, purchasing, document control, and employee training. While the certification is a reflection of high standards in management systems, many read it as a signal of overall productivity and quality extending even to a company’s products and services.
Integrated Biometrics CEO Steve Thies certainly sees it that way; speaking in a press release, he asserted, “We create the World’s best fingerprint sensor technology by being firmly committed to our staff, internal processes, and partnerships,” adding that the ISO certification “shows our customers and prospects that Integrated Biometrics not only has a sturdy management system in place but we also have the ability and resources to continue to improve processes for delivering the best products.”
If the company’s output is any indication, Thies seems to be right in drawing the connection. Pakistan’s education agency recently contracted Integrated Biometrics to provide fingerprint readers for a program seeking to authenticate teachers in underserved parts of the country, while mobile solutions provider Mobizent recently inked a deal with the company to integrate one of its FBI-compliant sensors into one of its own handheld scanners. Integrated Biometrics’ products are in demand, in other words, and its undeniable that output has something to do with input, as the ISO 9001 certification demonstrates.
