Fingerprint biometrics developer IDEX ASA has announced some big changes to its management team and its general business strategy. Two key positions have been added, while another executive will step down to take a consultant role.
First, the new positions: Art Stewart, a fingerprint sensors veteran with experience in AuthenTec and Synaptics, has been appointed Senior Vice President of Product Management. Meanwhile, Dr. Lunji Qiu, who recently departed from NEXT Biometrics, has taken on the position of General Manager and Vice President of IDEX China. And IDEX CTO Dr. Ralph W. Bernstein will be leaving his position at the end of the first quarter, and taking on a new position as a consultant for the company.
It’s all part of a shift in strategy as the company reorganizes to become a leading vendor on the global market, the company said in a press release. Moreover, this year “the centre of gravity of technology and development for IDEX is shifting to the US sites where IDEX can secure specialist skills rapidly.”
The shift in strategy comes at a time of strong performance on the company’s part. Last month, IDEX secured a deal with Trustonic to have its biometric technology integrated into a range of smart devices. And in December, the company teamed up with Flextronics to bring biometric security to the latter’s Open Innovation Platform. With demand for mobile biometrics on the rise globally and the Internet of Things expanding rapidly, IDEX is trying to keep pace and position itself to take full advantage of its growth potential.
