Seven new members have joined the International Biometrics + Identity Association (IBIA): Clarkson University, Hitachi Beijing, Liquid, Inc., Telos ID, Typing DNA, and Vigilant Solutions are now full members with the organization, with Charter Communications signing on as an affiliate member.
The announcement of the new members comes immediately after the revelation that Bob Eckel, President of OT-Morpho North America, has joined the IBIA Board of Directors, suggesting that IBIA is undergoing an intensive growth phase. In a statement, IBIA Managing Director Tovah LaDier said the new members “reflect the diverse solutions and international stakeholders shaping the industry – including leading developers of identity solutions, academic researchers, start-ups with new, game-changing technologies, and end users”.
Indeed, the new members represent a breadth of interests. Liquid, Inc., for example, is working to pioneer a fingerprint-based naked payments system, while TypingDNA focuses on behavioral biometrics pertaining to users’ typing patterns; and Hitachi has been experimenting across modalities and applications ranging from mobile finger vein authentication to facial recognition-enhanced breathalyzers.
The diversity should help IBIA to extend its influence across a broader cross-section of the biometrics industry as the organization continues to grow.
