Gemalto has launched a new platform aimed at giving enterprises all they need to enroll and verify customer credentials. Called ID Verification, the platform is also being marketed to financial institutions for Know Your Customer applications and offers compliance with regulations such as the Anti-Money Laundering Directive.
Gemalto is positioning the product as a comprehensive platform capable of scanning a range of ID documents including passports, with VP Jean-Claude Perrin asserting in a statement that the company has “a document template database covering 170 countries”. ID Verification also features biometric identification capabilities, and allows for online customer verification via photo upload. Moreover, the scalable solution can be integrated into an existing platform or implemented in software-as-a-service (SaaS) form.
The new solution follows soon after the announcement of another authentication system, which Gemalto developed in collaboration with Fingerprint Cards, Precise Biometrics, and STMicroelectronics. With that solution aimed squarely at fingerprint authentication and ID Verification being positioned to cover a range of enterprise applications, Gemalto is covering a wide swath of the authentication in its latest endeavors.
