Fujitsu is opting to get small with its new F-Pro biometric solution, a version of its PalmSecure technology that is only half the size of its earlier palm vein scanning solutions. It’s part of a new product suite that also includes devices called the F-Pro Standard and the F-Pro Mouse.
The smaller sensor isn’t the only technological upgrade in the F-Pro series. In a statement announcing the new products, Fujitsu said they offer improved environmental tolerance with respect to temperature and sunlight, and that they can perform faster imaging for user authentication. Meanwhile, the PalmSecure SDK has been updated to support both the F-Pro suite and older PalmSecure version two sensors.
In a statement announcing the new product line, Fujitsu Frontech North America Currency Handling and Identity Product Solutions VP Randy Fox said its “reduced size and enhanced capture speeds will enable us to enter new markets”, adding that the company plans to use F-Pro technology “to develop and launch new products in financial services, healthcare and retail while upgrading existing products in those verticals in the very near future.”
Fujitsu’s PalmSecure technology has already seen a range of applications, having been integrated into a new naked payments platform and embraced for a healthcare kiosk solution earlier this year.
