“… BioSec said that while there is no such thing as a solution that offers 100 percent security, ‘palm vein recognition is quite close to it.'”
Fujitsu is bringing technology from BioSec into its lineup of palm vein scanning solutions.
BioSec’s solutions for access control and IT security are themselves based on Fujitsu’s PalmSecure technology, which is designed to recognize patterns in the veins of a given subject’s palm. One such solution, StadiumGuard, allows individuals entering a stadium to confirm their identities simply by waving their hands above a scanner.
In a statement announcing the companies’ collaboration, BioSec said that while there is no such thing as a solution that offers 100 percent security, “palm vein recognition is quite close to it.”
The integration of BioSec’s solutions into Fujitsu’s product line is part of a broader agreement between the two companies, which will see Fujitsu sell the technology in Europe, India, the Middle East, and Africa – regions in which “there is a significant interest” in such technology, Fujitsu says.
