FlexEnable To Show Off Flexible Fingerprint Sensor at Trustech

Another contender has entered the ring: UK-based FlexEnable will show off its flexible fingerprint sensor for smart cards at next week’s Trustech 2016 conference.

There are already a couple of other companies planning to stake similar claims at the event. There’s IDEX, which has been working with Safran Identity & Security to develop its own solution; and then there’s NEXT Biometrics, which has so far announced multiple orders of its biometric smart card technology. It’s all reflective of a market that is quickly heating up, with other competitors besides.

For its part, FlexEnable boasts that its sensor’s ISORG-supplied organic photodiodes allow a particularly thin form factor, with the sensor being only 0.3mm thick. The optical sensor also allows for 500 dpi imaging, with the company claiming in a statement that it’s “the only flexible sensor technology that his achieved such high resolution.”

That’s a bold claim that could help FlexEnable to get a competitive edge as it showcases its technology among rivals at next week’s Trustech event.
