This week, Fingerprint Cards AB (FPC) announced that Hardware & Software Technologies Co. Ltd (HST), its distributor in China and Taiwan, has placed an order for touch sensors worth SEK 30 million.
According to FPC, the order is a result of a growing demand in China for banking solutions as well as new government related projects.
This order of touch sensors is in line with FPC’s expressed focus for 2014. In a January interview with findBIOMETRICS, the company’s chairman of the board Urban Fagerstedt had this to say on what lies ahead for Fingerprint Cards in 2014:
“It is to go out with the Touch sensor, help our customers implement their prototypes and development efforts and make sure that they have a good experience on them and basically that will pave the way for our business.”
Fingerprint Cards has been aggressively targeting the Asian biometric markets for at least the past six months, constantly racking up design wins and seeing FPC technology launch on a number of mobile devices. This newest order is being taken as proof that the company’s laser focus has paid off.
Johan Carlström, president and CEO of Fingerprint Cards expresses the company’s pride in the regard, saying, “This order confirms our leading position in the market for capacitive authentication devices for Chinese Banks, where FPC is considered the ‘de facto’ standard and enjoys a dominant market share in excess of 80%.”
