“The fact all four of the finalists selected by CHIME’s panel of judges rely on biometric identification technologies indicates the increasing importance and prominence of such solutions in the healthcare industry…”
A nationwide contest to find the best patient identification system for healthcare is moving onto its final stage, and all of the four finalists’ solutions use biometrics.
According to a statement from organizers of the CHIME Healthcare Innovation Trust National Patient ID Challenge, one of the finalists, Michael Braithwaite, proposed a solution that identifies patients “through the use of multiple biometric technologies,” while the solution of another finalist, Bon Sy, uses “a combination of behavioral and biometric information.” RightPatient, with its multimodal biometric identification solution, has also proceeded to the final round, having celebrated its advancement to the final eight last year.
The fourth finalist, Team HarmonIQ Health Systems, takes an approach relying on blockchain and encryption that also incorporates biometrics.
The fact that all four of the finalists selected by CHIME’s panel of judges rely on biometric identification technologies indicates the increasing importance and prominence of such solutions in the healthcare industry, and could serve to further promote their adoption among those in the industry who are keeping an eye on this contest.
