Iris-scanning technology developer EyeLock has received a big new accolade for its myris USB device, as the product has been named a 2015 CES Innovation Awards Honoree. The distinction is granted by a panel designers, engineers, and media experts and is based on a set of criteria revolving around both form and function.
The handheld device generates and stores passwords that can then be accessed via its EyeLock ID iris scanner, which EyeLock says makes it “faster and more secure than any other biometric identifier aside from DNA.”
It’s an adaptable, multi-platform solution that can be integrated with a variety of devices, and it has previously earned accolades from the likes of Mashable and Popular Science; it also won last year’s Red Dot Product Design Award.
It’s a good time for such a product to be hitting the market. Online activity continues to increase as industries like commerce and banking are moving into the digital world, and governments around the world are starting to built biometric registries of citizens and to look at biometric solutions for security. If EyeLock’s technology is as fast and secure as it says it is, there certainly won’t be a lack of demand for it.
