The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) has announced Daon as its new “Preferred Partner for biometric authentication technology.”
The company was selected based on its IdentityX platform, a biometric authentication system that has helped to bring multimodal security to applications like USAA’s mobile banking app. The platform attained FIDO certification last summer and was upgraded to version 4.0 in the autumn, boasting of improvements to its user interface, security infrastructure, and facial biometric capability. (The platform also features fingerprint and voice recognition.)
The NAFCU support could open up a number of new opportunities to Daon as the organization’s members seek better transaction security for the industry’s shift to EMV chip cards. Commenting in a statement, Daon CEO Tom Grissen said his company is “delighted to partner with NAFCU Services”, adding that Daon’s team “look forward to working with NAFCU members to help credit unions garner a more secure future in addition to enjoying a faster and more convenient way to authenticate via their mobile app.”
For his part, NAFCU Services President Randy Salser said he “couldn’t be more excited” about the partnership, saying it “supports and strengthens the credit union community as a whole.”
