The tropical island country of Curaçao has implemented an automated border control (ABC) eGate system from Vision-Box.
Deployed at the Curaçao International Airport, the system is intended to improve the traveler experience, with Curaçao’s tourism industry being a major economic sector. The airport’s managers are working to expand its capacity from 1.6 to 2.5 million travelers per year, and Vision-Box’s ABC eGates are an important part of that endeavor.
The eGates use facial recognition technology to verify passengers holding America, Canadian, or European passports, and Vision-Box claims its document reader uses specialized feeding technology that ensures the passports are accurately placed 100 percent of the time. It also allows security personnel to monitor passenger screening in real time, allowing them to respond to inconsistencies and other issues immediately.
The technology is the basis for Vision-Box’s recently unveiled Orchestra platform, aimed at offering a comprehensive border screening solution for a range of potential deployments. This technology has seen great success in previous deployments, winning Vision-Box industry acclaim, and it seems fair to expect positive results in Curaçao in the months and years to come.
