“The project will see the upgrade of palmprint scanning technology across almost 400 enrollment and capture stations in the country.”
Crossmatch is offering some commentary on its new contract to upgrade the UK Home Office’s Forensic and Biometric Interim Capability, or FABrIC, program, emphasizing its collaboration with government authorities.
The contract was announced last week, and comes by way of Northrop Grumman, which initially won the £28.8 million contract to upgrade FABrIC in the spring of 2015 and is now reaching out to Crossmatch for its biometric expertise. The project will see the upgrade of palmprint scanning technology across almost 400 enrollment and capture stations in the country.
In a statement, Crossmatch International Government Sales VP Eduardo Parodi emphasized the company’s previous work in support of FABrIC, with Crossmatch having provided the original palmprint scanning technology in 2000. “Crossmatch has worked diligently to support Northrop Grumman and their customer—the UK Home Office—in meeting their ongoing mission of adapting to the changing realities of criminal booking and the evolving threat environment in the UK,” he said, adding, “Government agencies around the world depend on the reliability, performance and image quality of our solutions in critical use applications—such as law enforcement, refugee management and border control screening.”
It’s a clear signal that Crossmatch is ready to bring this technology to additional clients in the government sector, with its work in the FABrIC project helping to make a strong case.
