Crossmatch is celebrating a big anniversary this month. It’s now 20 years old, going back to 1996 when it existed as two entities—Cross Match Technologies and DigitalPersona, Inc.
The companies combined to form Crossmatch in 2014, and as a new unit the company has since seen major government deployments of its technology—such as in border control with respect to Europe’s current migration crisis, and in law enforcement, with the company’s technology enabling faster identification. It’s also being used in the enterprise sector, which its biometric identification technology being used in applications like internal login systems and time and attendance tracking.
All of this revolves around Crossmatch’s multi-factor DigitalPersona Altus platform, which was recently upgraded by the company; and the company is keen to keep this robust system at the center of its activities in the years to come. Commenting on its 20-year anniversary in a statement, Crossmatch CEO Richard Agostinelli said, “We are excited to honor this heritage with our next-generation DigitalPersona Altus multi-factor authentication solution,” adding that the platform lets companies “quickly adapt to solve their identity management challenges — today and for the next 20 years.”
