Germany-based facial recognition technology developer Cognitec has unveiled a new video camera featuring a built-in facial recognition system. The FaceVACS-VideoScan C5 camera is an IP video camera that offers high image quality over low bandwidth.
The video camera’s face biometrics technology employs gapless, real-time face detection and tracking, and produces lossless video streams for each face that it detects. It can recognize faces under difficult conditions, and supports RTSP/H.264 video streams, so it can be integrated with digital video recording systems. Perhaps most importantly, it’s designed to produce high-resolution, uncompressed images over optimized bandwidth usage, meaning that users don’t need to set up a dedicated network connection between the hardware and software, and don’t need to compromise on image quality – and accuracy – when deploying the system.
It’s the first new offering from the company since it upgraded its B9 software engine last month, and Cognitec will be showcasing the video camera system next month at ISC West in Las Vegas and at the Counter Terror Expo in London. Given the past acclaim the company’s technology has received from bodies like the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the new camera system will be well worth a look.
