The CLEAR biometric passenger screening system has launched at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), allowing travelers to quickly move through security by undergoing fingerprint or eye scans.
Commenting on the deployment, the CEO of LAX municipal operator LAWA, Deborah Flint, lauded the CLEAR system as one that will “help travelers save time.” For CLEAR’s part, CEO Caryn Seidman-Becker said, “We have no doubt the VIP CLEAR experience will resonate with Los Angeles consumers”.
The system arrives at LAX a little later than originally anticipated, with CLEAR having announced near the start of the year that it would deploy its system in Los Angeles and Minneapolis by the end of the first quarter. Nevertheless, the program has undergone an undeniable expansion in recent months, with deployments in New York and Atlanta as well.
CLEAR also recently announced a partnership with Delta Airlines that allows Delta SkyMiles Members to access a special lounge at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport via fingerprint authentication. The companies aim to expand that system to full-scale biometric boarding, without any need for travel documents.
