Biometrics developer BioSSL has announced a new collaboration with Card_Lab, a Danish biometric smart card maker. BioSSL is integrating Card_Labs’ Biometric Bank Card into its secure platform.
BioSSL’s platform seeks to provide biometric security to web access, letting users register their fingerprints or facial biometrics for authentication. It’s meant to provide a comprehensive security system for the web environment, and of course a part of that is ensuring that online transactions are secured. To that end, Card_Labs’ product is a valuable tool.
Speaking in a press release, BioSSL Managing Director Johann Caubergh said that the Biometric Bank Card “is the perfect match for BioSSL… Magnetic stripe, contact or contactless, the innovative Card_Lab biometric enabled card is the solution to secure online transactions and can be used as an offline security for shopping.” The companies claim that it’s the first such system offering HTTPS fingerprint security that doesn’t store the image on the local device.
Biometric security is increasingly needed to secure online transactions. In this capacity, BioSSL and Card_Labs’ solution will be joining the myriad biometric authentication systems of the burgeoning ecosystem of mPayment platforms, in addition to similar technologies increasingly being embedded on PCs and laptops.
