If you’re just tuning in to the discussion of automated border control, you should know that the market is in the midst of a growth period. According to recent research published by Acuity Market Intelligence, the global market for Automated Border Control eGates and kiosks will exceed $1.2 billion in annual revenue by 2020, growing at a 20 percent CAGR.
It should come as no surprise then, that news of deployments and contracts in biometric border control has been frequent and positive. Just yesterday alone Cross Match Technologies launched its new Guardian Module for biometric border control and MorphoTrust USA (Safran) opened a new facility in Springfield, Illinois, answering a growing demand for travel-related identity management.
Today, biometric technology provider CLEAR is keeping us focused on border control, announcing that this summer it will be launching its passenger screening solution in Las Vegas’s McCarran International Airport.
Caryn Seidman Becker, CEO of CLEAR, expands: “We are thrilled to be bringing CLEAR to Las Vegas. McCarran is the tenth airport offering our services. CLEAR and McCarran are dedicated to creating the safest and most efficient experience possible for travelers departing this world-renowned destination.”
CLEAR is closely integrated with the TSA Pre✓ program. It operates using fingerprint and iris biometrics to verify the identities of pre-approved passengers, promising checkpoint times of less than five minutes on average. Come mid-August, CLEAR expects its members-only security lanes and enrollment kiosks to launch in three McCarran Airport checkpoints.
