Today, BIO-key International announced that it will be introducing an adaptive multifactor authentication solution with the release of WEB-key 3.5.
WEB-key is a fingerprint authentication platform that runs on BIO-key’s NIST validated VST version 6.5 algorithm. It offers an authentication framework featuring unique encryption for every transaction as well as session tracking. It supports biometrics, prox cards and challenge response factors, and thanks to its new client APIs, WEB-key now boasts enhanced security on mobile and easier use on Android.
Mira LaCous BIO-key’s chief technology officer explains the demand for this new product saying, “Today, customers must consider issues such as interoperability to mobile, scalability for high demand and operation within many vendor based applications when building their security platforms. WEB-key 3.5 delivers unparalleled flexibility supporting multiple authentication methods across clients on laptops, tablets, and phones. The addition of BIO-key’s ID Director product suite adds in the integration to Active Directory, as well as many enterprise vertical products such as IBM ISAM for Web, CA SiteMinder and electronic healthcare record management systems including Epic, Allscripts, Caradigm and more. ID Director can also tie in additional authentication modes like One-Time-Pin authentication systems.”
“Our healthcare customers in particular, need the ability to authenticate using multiple modalities, in order to meet two-factor compliance requirements,” continues LaCous. “Adaptive authentication provides secure alternative authentication methods for non-biometric enabled endpoints to accommodate additional strong factors when required. This release also expands features of supported systems, including Linux servers and Android mobile clients, in addition to expanding on BIO-key’s interoperability with the majority of fingerprint readers available today; allowing our customers to truly future-proof their authentication process.”
BIO-key is well positioned to tackle the healthcare industry demand for strong authentication solutions like WEB-key. The company has a number of partners in the healthcare vertical including Allscripts, Caradigm, Epic, HealthCast Solutions and Key Source International. Each of these partners demonstrated BIO-key fingerprint technology at this year’s HIMSS 2014 conference.
