Biometrics software provider Aware, Inc. announced today that its COTS solutions are being deployed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The deployment of Aware’s biometric software solutions comes as a part of an update to the Kingdom’s visa issuance management process.
Having worked as the principal subcontractor for Fujitsu Arabia, Aware’s Biometric Services Platform (BioSP) and Universal Registration Client, as well as the COTS APIs related to said applications are now working to better the screening process for visitors to the country. BioSP aids in managing workflow and data exchange in the process, while URC handles the biometric enrollment performed on the hundreds of workstations distributed in consulates across Saudi Arabia.
Rob Mungovan, Vice President at Aware, remarks on the deployment: “The new system in Saudi Arabia highlights the scalability of Aware’s biometric services platform, designed to handle as many as sixteen thousand biometric enrollments in a single hour. The deployment serves as yet another example of Aware’s COTS products and subcontracted services being used by an integrator to successfully field an advanced, biometrics-enabled visa issuance solution.”
A similar biometric visa screening process is being undertaken by the Canadian government, which will be requiring visitors hailing from a total of 30 countries to submit biometrics for study permits, work permits and visiting visas come December 11. Aware is working with Fujitsu in the same capacity, supplying BioSP, URC and the related COTS APIs.
