On Thursday, France’s national agency ANTS (French National Agency for Secure Documents) awarded Thales and Orange Business Services a contract for secure identity documents to provide through-life support for the biometric data acquisition system, which is comprised of approximately 4,000 devices that capture fingerprints, take photographs and record other personal details for passports in the French Republic. The system is located at local regional government offices, as well as those in overseas territories.
Thales will be developing an interoperable solution for ANTS that will allow for faster processing of biometric data acquisition. Not only will the new modular solution be scalable, based on Orange Business Services’ self-managed network, but the solution is being designed with an intuitive user interface to ensure that implementation is done with ease across all platforms.
