Biometric smart card developer Zwipe is aiming to enter a new phase of growth with some strategic additions to its talent pool.
The company has just announced the appointment of Lisbeth Breum, formerly of the Herkules Capital equity firm, as its new CFO; she replaces Steffen Larsen, who is now the company’s SVP of Products. The latest development complements numerous other hires over the last several months, with the company asserting in a statement that since October of last year it “has hired 10 professionals within engineering, biometrics, manufacturing and intellectual property”.
With its pioneering technology, which integrates fingerprint scanning capabilities into smart cards, Zwipe initially focused on the financial services sector, aiming at payment card applications; but the company now also sees opportunities in biometric access control, and a recent partnership with fingerprint sensor giant Fingerprint Cards could open up a wealth of opportunities for Zwipe. As such, it’s preparing for “aggressive growth and expansion,” according to CEO Kim Kristian Humborstad.
Commenting on her new appointment, Breum said the company “is at the center of the quickly evolving biometric industry,” adding, “I look forward to taking part in this talented team’s journey towards the next chapter.”
