Today, 3M Cogent announced that Schneider Electric has selected the biometric solutions provider’s MiY biometric access control readers to be integrated into its bulding management solutions.
Schneider Electric’s Andover Continuum Integrated Security and Building Management Solution is, as its name implies, a full management system for buildings. Power monitoring, climate control and energy management are all taken care of with the ecosystem manager of a solution, as well as a great number of security operations including physical access control, intrusion monitoring, fire alarm monitoring and digital video surveillance.
3M Cogent’s FIPS 201 certified MiY readers fit into this ecosystem on the physical access end. Andover Continuum CyberStation versions 1.91 and greater now have MiY readers to bolster security with biometric capture and single to multifactor strong authentication.
LK Wong, director of applications and sales support for Schneider Electric expands on the integration: “The successful integration of 3M Cogent’s MiY biometric access control readers with Schneider Electric’s Andover Continuum allows us to provide customers with best-in-class solutions that enable optimal, efficient building performance and reduce energy consumption, capital expenditures, and operating expenditures while also improving overall business performance.”
“Biometric access control is a rapidly growing requirement for facilities security,” says Christopher Crump, manager of the global access control portfolio for 3M Cogent. “Integrating 3M Cogent’s MiY framework provides Schneider Electric’s customers the ability to use 3M Cogent’s high-quality biometric access control products seamlessly.”
In a recent interview with findBIOMETRICS, Teresa Wu, 3M Cogent’s global biometric system and mobile handheld portfolio marketing director previewed the company’s ISC West spotlights, and among those is new MiY functionality.
“3M Cogent will be presenting our flexible, scalable and secure line of MiY indoor/outdoor and mobile biometric access control readers and data collection devices,” says Wu. “We have a complete range of products suitable for enterprise, air and seaports, and government facilities as well as small and medium size buildings. Our latest addition is the HID SE add-on module for the MiY-Touch reader, adding support for MiFare, Desfire and iClass contact cards.”
3M Cogent will be at booth #17121 during this week’s ISC West conference and exhibition.
