Aratek has released a new optical fingerprint module that can be used for a number of different applications. The A700-M is FBI FAP 30 certified, and offers a larger surface area that is able to capture more data during each impression.
“Capturing more biometric data results in vastly more accurate and secure authentication,” said Aratek International Business Department VP Samuel Wu. “The high quality captures performed by the A700-M weed out false negatives where valid samples are wrongly rejected.”
The A700-M can be deployed in mobile devices, and can generate images of 400 x 500 pixels with a sensor area that measures 20.32 x 25.4 mm. The module boasts Live Finger Detection to guard against spoofing, and leverages an Aratek matching algorithm that received MINEX III certification in June of 2019. The module is also compliant with the ISO 19794-2, ISO 19794-4, ANSI 378, ANSI 381, and WSQ standards. Aratek believes that it could potentially be used for payments and voter registration, and to verify customer identities in client-facing industries like banking and healthcare.
Aratek recently introduced temperature detection to help guard against the spread of COVID-19. Before that, the company released a new biometric handheld that offers both face and fingerprint recognition capabilities.
