Aratek is moving forward with the formal launch of its new FAP 30 optical fingerprint scanner. The FBI-certified A700 scanner enjoyed a successful soft launch in 2020, and will now be widely available alongside the rest of Aratek’s fingerprint portfolio.
The A700 boasts a large 20.32 by 25.40 mm sensing area, allowing it to capture high-quality fingerprint images at 400 by 500 pixels with a distortion rate lower than one percent. It also prevents spoofing with a Live Finger Detection system that ensures that a real human user is present during the scan.
With that in mind, Aratek suggested that the A700 is well-suited to access control, and can support applications in a range of different industries, including finance, law enforcement, telecommunications, and healthcare. The scanner is made of a smudge-resistant material, and can capture prints in sub-optimal situations when the finger is dirty, dry, or damp.
Data collected with the A700 is protected with AES-256 encryption. The scanner itself comes with an SDK that allows customers to integrate the device into a variety of Windows, Android, and embedded systems, including Aratek’s own TrustLink biometric authentication platform. The A700 is also compatible with the TrustFinger SDK featured in Arak’s A400 and A600 scanners, which are FAP10 and FAP20 certified, respectively. As a result, customers can deploy all three modules with the same software setup.
“The Aratek A700 is specifically engineered to fill the needs of a growing number of applications requiring a higher standard of reliability,” said Aratek International Business VP Samuel Wu. “This compatibility makes all models work together in useful ways and could offer tremendous advantage to select developers.”
Aratek recently upgraded its A600 module with a Match-on-Device mode that allows users to complete a match without sending fingerprint data to another location. Before that, the company released a BM7550 tablet that supports both face and fingerprint recognition.
