Applied Recognition has won over a new distributor that could help to further establish its presence in the Canadian market. The company has teamed up with CognoSystems, a Toronto-based IT services firm.
The latter will promote Applied Recognition’s Ver-ID Face Authenticator solution to its clients. As its name suggests, the system is based on facial recognition, applying the technology through a standard smartphone camera to match end users’ faces against their official identity documents. There’s a growing market for this kind of identity verification solution, as Jumio head Stephen Stuut explained in an interview with FindBiometrics this week; so CognoSystems’ interest in bringing it into its solutions portfolio is understandable.
In a statement announcing the Applied Recognition partnership, CognoSystems Managing Partner Logan Davidson explained that “[n]etwork attacks through password exploits are the #1 fear of IT administrators and CIOs,” and said that Ver-ID Face Authenticator is a “simple, user-acceptable, and powerful solution to eliminate the vulnerability.”
Applied Recognition Co-CEO Ray Ganong, meanwhile, said his team is “delighted” about the new partnership, asserting that they are “looking forward to accelerating the deployment and adoption of this core technology across Canada.” The partnership arrives after Applied Recognition’s platform received Canadian Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act certification late last summer.
