Alcatraz AI has partnered with Axis Communications, a Sweden-based video surveillance specialist, which will promote Alcatraz’s The Rock access control solution through its Axis Technology Integration Partner program.
It’s more than a promotional partnership, however. The companies have worked together to enable interoperability between their solutions, with The Rock being configured for communications with Axis’s access control management software. For example, if the Rock detects an incidence of tailgating, it can send an alert to the Axis system, which will notify administrators.
“We are thrilled to have Alcatraz AI join our Axis Technology Integration Partner Program,” commented Axis Communications Business Development Manager Drew Pacino. “Their facial authentication product is truly unique, and by integrating this with Axis devices can offer even more value to our mutual Channel Partners and end customers.”
News of the partnership comes after Alcatraz’s launch of a new mobile-based enrollment system for its access control solution. Administrators can invite authorized individuals to register for a given security system by submitting a selfie image through a mobile app, enabling The Rock to recognize their face when they arrive at the premises.
Importantly, the Mobile Enrollment solution is equipped with a “Privacy Consent Management” tool that asks the end user to actively opt into the system, helping to ensure compliance with regulations such as Illinois’s Biometric Information Privacy Act, which requires explicit consent for the collection of an individual’s biometric data.
In announcing the Axis partnership, Alcatraz emphasized that the companies combined solutions offer an access control system that improves efficiency and effectiveness for both administrators and end users.
Alcatraz AI CEO Tina D’Agostin also pointed to ongoing collaboration between the companies. “We are proud to be accepted as an Axis Technology Integration Partner and look forward to demonstrating the value we can bring as we work together to enhance access control with their next generation of network door controllers,” she said.
Alcatraz AI will host a free, privacy-focused webinar on March 15. Titled “Unlocking the Door to Biometric Privacy: A Path to Creating, Communicating, and Managing Compliance”, the online event will feature legal expert David Oberly of Squire Patton Boggs.
