Alcatraz AI is beginning to find more customers for its face-based access control solution. The company has revealed that its facial recognition technology is being installed at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, which serves as the home field for the city’s Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC).
Once installed, Alcatraz will enable contactless access control for employees working at LAFC facilities. Facial recognition will serve as a replacement for more traditional employee badges, though in some cases it may be deployed in conjunction with badges in areas that require a higher level of security.
The solution is being rolled out to improve hygiene and make employees feel more comfortable as they return to work. Alcatraz noted that two-thirds of employees have expressed concerns about the safety of physical venues, and contactless access control will reduce the number of shared touchpoints while simplifying the venue’s access control procedures.
In that regard, Alcatraz uses facial recognition to verify the identities of registered individuals. It then grants access to those with the proper clearance, while denying access to tailgaters and anyone else that it does not recognize. The solution will eventually be installed at all LAFC sites.
“Touchless access using facial authentication increases building security and user convenience,” said Alcatraz CEO Tina D’Agostin. “In today’s operational reality, it also enhances health and safety measures by reducing touchpoints and enabling robust contact tracing programs. We are here to help companies confidently resume on-site operations, and we are excited to support LAFC in their efforts.”
Alcatraz has spent much of the past year trying to boost sales for its facial recognition technology. The partnership with LAFC suggests that those efforts are starting to pay dividends. In the meantime, the company has entered into reseller agreements with New York Security Solutions, Clear Cloud Solutions, and Channeltivity.
LAFC has previously used CLEAR technology to enable expedited entry for fans at Banc of California Stadium. Alcatraz, on the other hand, is intended for staff rather than consumers.
