Alcatraz Enters NVIDIA Metropolis Partner Program

Alcatraz has officially joined the NVIDIA Metropolis Software Partner Program. The Metropolis program gives members access to design tools and software packages to accelerate the development of video analytics solutions.

In that regard, Alcatraz plans to use NVIDIA’s Jetson Edge AI platform as the foundation for its own multi-sensor computer vision system. The technologies available through Metropolis have already been approved for enterprise use, so solutions built with them do not need to go through a lengthy certification process before being deployed.

Alcatraz, meanwhile, is best known for developing its own facial recognition system. Dubbed the Rock, the system is designed to enable contactless access control, and was recently upgraded with a new feature that bars entry to people who are not wearing masks or are otherwise failing to observe state-mandated mask requirements.

“We’re innovating the physical security space with the creation of autonomous access control that works with any existing provider,” said Alcatraz Chief Revenue Officer Tina D’Agostin. “Joining the NVIDIA Metropolis Software Partner Program will enrich our machine learning and computer vision multi-sensor embedded system, allowing us to develop and deliver one of the most technologically advanced solutions on the market.”

Earlier this month, Alcatraz hired Blaine Frederick as its new VP of Product to oversee the future development of the Rock. The company has also moved forward with several initiatives to increase sales. Debraj Sinha signed on as the company’s new Product Marketing Manager in August, while Alcatraz itself partnered with Channeltivity to improve communications with potential customers.
