Alcatraz AI has added an important new feature to its flagship biometric access control solution, the Rock. It now supports web-based “Mobile Enrollment”, enabling end users to submit their face biometrics remotely using a smartphone or tablet.
For organizations using the Rock to verify contractors and visitors to their facilities, the new feature will significantly streamline operations. The process simply entails sending a link or QR code to a given enrollee, who can then proceed to register their face biometrics with their device.
What’s more, the new feature comes with a “Privacy Consent Management” tool the prompts users to opt in (or out) of the biometric system, helping organizations to ensure they are compliant with privacy regulations like the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Illinois Biometric Information Protection Act (BIPA), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
“Two of the biggest challenges to adoption of facial biometrics in the enterprise has been the burden of enrollment and the concern over privacy,” explained Alcatraz AI CEO Tina D’Agostin. “With Privacy Consent Management we have created a simple opt-in process which allows our customers to communicate clearly with end users the benefits of facial authentication and how their personal data will be used and managed.”
D’Agostin went on to note that the solution “reduces the cost and complexity” of the entire biometric enrollment process.
The new feature’s launch comes after Alcatraz AI obtained certification for the Rock from the Bureau of Indian Standards earlier this month. BIS certification attests to the reliability and security of products entering India’s massive market, and in some cases is required by regulators, positioning Alcatraz for potentially substantial new business opportunities in the region.
Now, the new remote registration solution could further fuel such global expansion efforts.
