Alaska Airlines Offers VeriFLY Screening to International Travelers

Alaska Airlines is now offering VeriFLY service to international travelers headed to the United States. Passengers that use the app will enjoy an expedited boarding process, but will still need to go through the usual customs procedure when they arrive in the United States. As a result, VeriFLY will not serve as a replacement for physical documents, and travelers should be prepared to show those documents to a border agent.

VeriFLY should nevertheless make it easier for people to comply with the CDC’s current health requirements. As of January, all international travelers to the US must fill out a health attestation form, and must have a negative COVID-19 test conducted within three days of departure. VeriFLY allows people to consolidate and share those documents, and acts as a checklist so they can make sure they have everything they need to travel.

Travelers can download the VeriFLY app on Android and iOS devices. From there, they can select their destination, and the app will provide them with a list of mandatory items that they will need when they arrive. They will then receive travel pass verification once they upload the necessary documents, and can present that verification to an Alaska Airlines agent to enjoy a faster check-in when they get to the airport.

VeriFLY is developed by Daon, and is already being used to screen passengers flying with American Airlines and British Airways. The Pennsylvania Convention Center will also be using the app to track the health of its employees once the venue is able to reopen.

Alaska Airlines is offering VeriFLY service on inbound US flights as of February 5. The company indicated that it could offer support for other destinations at some point in the future.
