VMWare has announced the release of the latest iteration of its recently acquired AirWatch EMM platform. AirWatch 8 boasts of an enhanced user interface, and will integrate a number of partner apps while providing biometric security.
Among the partner apps that have been integrated in AirWatch 8 are Box, Jasper, Socialcast, Wistia, Veracode, AppleCare, and EyeVerify. It also now supports the Google Chrome OS, and allows the pre-registration of Intel Android devices, while continuing to support the Device Enrollment Program for Apple products. Perhaps most importantly, the platform now supports a multi-factor authentication system that includes SDK support for the fingerprint-scanning Touch ID system found on all new Apple mobile devices.
That could prove extremely important going forward as more and more sensitive data moves into the online sphere and new security vulnerabilities emerge. And given that AirWatch 8 now features Jasper, a service for IoT integration, it’s going to be all the more important that enterprises using the EMM solution secure it with biometric, multi-factor security.
AirWatch 8 will be available in Q1 of this year, with a 30-day free trial available to new clients.
