Aculab Launches Voice Recognition API

UK-based Aculab has announced a new voice authentication solution for the enterprise.

Called “VoiSentry”, it’s an API solution aimed at letting clients deploy voice authentication in a range of applications, on-premise or through a cloud service. Clients have full control over the creation and population of their voice profile datasets, and Aculab is focused on offering VoiSentry as a cost-effective and simple solution.

In a statement announcing the solution, Aculab Product Manager Ian Colville placed particular emphasis on that last quality. “VoiSentry is designed as a scalable speaker verification system that is simple to install and integrate and can be deployed on the customers platform of choice”, he said.

The solution’s announcement reflects the growing prominence of voice-based authentication. The technology has established a solid footing in the financial services sector and other call center applications, and has lately found growing interest in other areas including the government and automotive sectors. In this market context, that means Aculab faces some serious competition; but the company has already established itself as a provider of APIs for other communications technologies including SMS and fax, with voice biometrics sounding like a natural extension to its base of expertise.
