Acuant Adds Tampering Detection to Biometric ID Verification System

Acuant has upgraded its AssureID and FRM identity platforms.

The company has added a photo tampering detection feature to Acuant FRM, a biometric document verification system that uses facial recognition to match official ID documents to selfie photos uploaded to the system. The feature is aimed at preventing fraudsters from using tampered images to fool the system, and could thus help the company to compete against emerging rivals like Jumio, which offers its own popular biometric document verification system.

In a statement, Acuant CEO Yossi Zekri suggested the upgrade is aimed at delivering “a frictionless experience while offering the highest level of authentication to protect against fraudulent transactions.”

Acuant has also separated its identity document library from its underlying software architecture, allowing new kinds of IDs to be added without the need for a whole software upgrade; and it now has introduced support for Xamarin SDK mobile app development, and for AWS Aurora and MySQL databases.
