Acuant will continue to be an approved technology provider for the federal government. In that regard, the federal Joint Authorization Board (JAB) has once again given Acuant a Moderate Provisional-Authority to Operate (P-ATO) under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP).
The P-ATO status specifically covers Acuant’s AssureID, Ozone, and Facial Recognition System (COFRS) products. Ozone is a document verification service, while AssureID extracts information from those documents to facilitate identity verification. COFRS, meanwhile, allows organizations to match a face to an image on a document. The solution boasts Identity Assurance Level 2 (IAL2) under the NIST SP800-63 standard, and has also cleared the second level of iBeta’s PAD liveness detection test.
All three solutions were listed as approved FedRAMP solutions in October of 2020, and are now available through the FedRAMP marketplace. The designation indicates that Acuant’s solutions meet the security and privacy standards of the federal government, and allows agencies to use them for their own identity needs. FedRAMP solutions are re-evaluated on an annual basis to make sure they keep up with the advancing rate of technology. The latest JAB approval will allow Acuant to keep its P-ATO status for another year.
The most recent Acuant evaluation was carried out by the CIOs of the Department of Defense (DoD), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the General Services Administration (GSA). The GSA is currently using Acuant’s COFRS solution to verify the identities of people accessing services through its Login.gov portal, while the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is using it for physical access control for visitors and contractors. The Login.gov Program is used to distribute disaster relief and other benefits to American citizens.
“Achieving FedRAMP Authorization for cloud-based identity proofing is another validation we are leading in the market,” said Acuant President and CEO Yossi Zekri. “We look forward to expanding our services with this sector to provide safer and more trusted transactions.”
Acuant noted that the demand for strong identity solutions has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company itself was acquired by GBG in November.
